Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation has planned to make the city slum free with a view to increase the living standard and environment of slum dwellers / Urban Poor by providing them dwelling units/ Affordable houses with all basis facilities & amenities.
The Department is responsible for Construction of Houses for urban poor & slum dwellers under various rehabilitation and housing schemes.The main objective of department is to improve livelihood of slum dwellers and Urban poor people.

BLC-Beneficiary led Individual Building Construction or Improvement (BLC)
Beneficiaries can avail the scheme components for new construction or enhancement of existing building. Progress will be tracked through geo-tagged photographs of the house. A family with an annual income of up to 3 lakh rupees and should not own a fixed house anywhere in India.
Rehabilitation and Redevelopment of slum project
As part of implementation of Gujarat Slum Rehabilitation Policy PPP-2013, Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation will be made slum free before 2047.
As part of the implementation of above Policy in Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation started first phase survey of huts in 10 different places (Charedi Chhapara, Dholakuva, GEB Gate, Charedi Char rasta, Adiwada Sec-28, Indiranagar Sec-24, Sec-13 Chhapara, Bhat, Koba, Raysan Signature bridge). The basic objective of the Gujarat Slum Rehabilitation Policy is to provide free-of-cost houses with basic amenities to the eligible slum dwellers as defined in the policy.
Providing houses to the people of slum areas will remove the encroachment of government land and free the government land worth crores of rupees.
