Work of Branch

The Health Department of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation is actively engaged in various initiatives and services to fulfill our mission. Some of the key areas of our work include:

Primary Healthcare Services

Operating primary healthcare centers equipped with essential medical facilities and trained healthcare professionals. Providing preventive and curative healthcare services, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, and basic treatments.

Disease Surveillance and Control

Monitoring and surveillance of communicable and non-communicable diseases to prevent outbreaks and epidemics. Implementing targeted interventions and vaccination programs to control the spread of infectious diseases.

Health Promotion and Education

Conducting health awareness campaigns and workshops on topics such as sanitation, hygiene, nutrition, and family planning. Engaging with schools, community groups, and workplaces to promote healthy behaviors and lifestyles.

Maternal and Child Health

Offering maternal and child healthcare services, including antenatal care, immunizations, and pediatric care. Conducting outreach programs to ensure access to maternal and child health services in underserved communities.

Emergency Response and Disaster Management

Building capacity for emergency response and disaster preparedness to mitigate the impact of health emergencies.Collaborating with local authorities and agencies to coordinate emergency medical services and relief efforts.

Social Mobilization and Institutional Development (SMID)

Formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs):

  • Under SMID, 10 to 15 women are organized into a Self-Help Group (SHG).
  • Each SHG is provided with a one-time revolving fund of Rs. 10,000/-
  • After the formation of the group, the bank provides loans to the SHGs at an interest rate of 7%.
  • Interest subsidy is provided to the SHGs to reduce the burden of interest payments.

Training and Capacity Building:

  • To make the SHG women self-reliant, they are provided with various business-oriented training programs in collaboration with non-governmental and government organizations.
  • These training programs help the women to acquire new skills and knowledge to start and run their own businesses.

Economic Empowerment:

  • To provide economic support to the SHG women, they are provided with canteens and stalls to sell their products.
  • The DAY-NULM scheme also provides financial assistance to the SHGs for setting up small businesses.

Marketing Support:

  • City Livelihood Centers (CLCs) are established to facilitate the sale of products made by the DAY-NULM scheme beneficiaries.
  • The SHG women are also encouraged to participate in various fairs and exhibitions to sell their products and showcase their talent.
  • Platforms like Rahi Mela, Diwali Mela, Saras Mela, Sanskriti Kunj, Vasant Utsav, and Indexi-B provide opportunities for the SHG women to sell their products and connect with potential buyers.

Key Features of SMID:

  • Empowerment of women: SMID focuses on empowering women from marginalized communities by providing them with financial and social support.
  • Community development: SMID promotes community development by encouraging collective action and self-reliance among the urban poor.
  • Poverty reduction: SMID aims to reduce poverty by providing economic opportunities and livelihood support to the urban poor.
  • Sustainable development: SMID adopts a sustainable approach to development by promoting the use of local resources and building the capacity of local communities.

SMID has been successful in:

  • Mobilizing and organizing the urban poor into Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
  • Providing financial and technical support to SHGs for income generation activities
  • Building the capacity of SHGs to manage their own affairs
  • Linking SHGs with banks and other financial institutions
  • Promoting social and economic development of the urban poor

SMID is a valuable program that has made a significant contribution to the empowerment of women and the development of urban communities in India.

Scheme Name: Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY)

Assistance:

  • Free healthcare for up to ₹10 lakhs per family per year
  • Covers primary, secondary, and tertiary care hospitalization
  • Includes treatment for common and serious illnesses
  • 2400 packages as defined by the central government
  • Free transportation allowance of ₹300 per visit Categories:
  • Below Poverty Line (BPL) families
  • Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) families
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) families
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC) families with annual income up to ₹1 lakh
  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS) families with annual income up to ₹1 lakh
  • Landless farmers with up to 2 acres of land
  • Artisans and weavers with annual income up to ₹1 lakh
  • Pensioners with monthly pension up to ₹10,000
  • Construction workers registered with the Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board
  • Beedi workers registered with the Beedi Workers’ Welfare Board
  • Mine workers registered with the Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization
  • Tea garden workers registered with the Tea Board
  • Rickshaw pullers and auto drivers with valid driving license and registration
  • Street vendors registered with the local authorities
  • Homeless people
  • Orphan children
  • Senior citizens living in old age homes
  • Transgender persons

Benefits:

  • Free hospitalization for up to ₹10 lakhs per family per year
  • Covers a wide range of secondary and tertiary care procedures
  • No co-payment or deductibles
  • Cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals across the country
  • Pre-authorization and post- hospitalization expenses covered
  • Transportation allowance of ₹300 per visit

Amount of Assistance:

  • Up to ₹10 lakhs per family per year

Namo Shri Yojana

Scheme Name: Namo Shri Yojana

Assistance:

  • Pregnant women belonging to the following categories will be eligible for a maximum assistance of Rs. 12,000/- (PMMVY and JSY combined assistance) for the first two deliveries, if they deliver in any government or private hospital.

Categories:

  1. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe women
  2. Women who are partially (40%) or fully disabled (Divyangjan)
  3. BPL ration card holder women
  4. Women beneficiaries who have a card under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) – Ayushman Bharat
  5. Women with e-Shram card
  6. Women farmers who are beneficiaries under Kisan Samman Nidhi
  7. Women with MNREGA job card
  8. Women whose annual family income is less than Rs. 8 lakhs.
  9. Pregnant and lactating AWWs/AWHs/ASHAs
  10. Any other category as determined by the Central Government
  11. Pregnant beneficiaries having ration card under National Food Security Act 2013 will be eligible for the benefit.

Benefits:

  • The beneficiaries of the categories mentioned in this scheme will be eligible for a total assistance of Rs. 12000/- (PMMVY and JSY combined assistance) for the first and second delivery.
  • The assistance under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) will be paid directly by the Government of India as per the guidelines of the Government of India.
