Bombay State Bifurcation: On May 1, 1960, the Bombay State was split into two separate states, Maharashtra and Gujarat, based on linguistic lines. This led to the establishment of the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha.
Legislative Functions Law Making
The primary function of the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha is to pass laws on state subjects and concurrent subjects, as specified in the Constitution of India. Bills can be introduced by both ruling and opposition members, but most legislative proposals are introduced by the government.

Social and Welfare Legislation
