Gandhinagar, named after Mahatma Gandhi, is the capital city of the western Indian state of Gujarat. Located approximately 23 kilometers north of Ahmedabad, the city is meticulously planned and is considered one of India’s greenest capitals. Established in 1960, Gandhinagar presents a spacious, well-organized look, characterized by its extensive planting and a large network of roads. The city is divided into sectors, each functioning almost as a self-contained town with housing, markets, and educational, and health facilities.

Akshardham Temple

Indroda Dinosaur and Fossil Park

Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC)

 

The GMC is responsible for the civic administration of the city. It oversees infrastructure development, maintenance of public utilities, sanitation, roads, and town planning. The GMC plays a crucial role in maintaining Gandhinagar’s urban aesthetics and green cover, which are central to the city’s identity.
